Special Events
Brisbane and South East Queensland families enjoy a number of special events that offer you the opportunity to take time off work to spend time with your kids. In 2025 we will observe the following public holidays and special events, some of which are unique to our local area:
Public holidays in Brisbane for 2025:
- Wednesday 1 January – New Year’s Day
- Friday 26 January – Australia Day
- Friday 29 March – Monday 1 April – Easter break
- Thursday 25 April – ANZAC Day
- Monday 6 May – Labour Day
- Wednesday 14 August – EKKA Show Day Holiday (Brisbane area only)
- Friday 30 August – Student Free Day
- Monday 7 October – King’s birthday holiday
- Wednesday 24 December (6pm – midnight) – Christmas Eve
- Thursday 25 December – Christmas Day
- Friday 26 December – Boxing Day

Term time dates for QLD state schools in 2025
QLD school holidays and term dates you need to diary:
- Term 1: Tuesday 28 January to Friday 4 April—10 weeks
- Term 2: Tuesday 22 April to Friday 27 June—10 weeks
- Term 3: Monday 14 July to Friday 19 September—10 weeks
- Term 4: Tuesday 7 October to Friday 12 December—10 weeks
