Special Events
Brisbane and South East Queensland families enjoy a number of special events that offer you the opportunity to take time off work to spend time with your kids. In 2024 we will observe the following public holidays and special events, some of which are unique to our local area:
Public holidays in Brisbane for 2024:
- Monday 1 January – New Year’s Day
- Friday 26 January – Australia Day
- Friday 29 March – Monday 1 April – Easter break
- Thursday 25 April – ANZAC Day
- Monday 6 May – Labour Day
- Wednesday 14 August – EKKA Show Day Holiday (Brisbane area only)
- Friday 30 August – Student Free Day
- Monday 7 October – King’s birthday holiday
- Tuesday 24 December (6pm – midnight) – Christmas Eve
- Wednesday 25 December – Christmas Day
- Thursday 26 December – Boxing Day

QLD school holidays and term dates you need to diary:
- Term 1 – Monday 22 January – Thursday 28 March
- Term 2 – Monday 15 April – Friday 21 June
- Term 3 – Monday 8 July – Friday 13 September
- Term 4 – Monday 30 September – Friday 13 December
