Apple Doughnut – Snack

Families Magazine is proud to bring you healthy and easy to make snacks with recipes included! Apples are a great snack for kids. Research shows apples are more effective than a glass of (semi-skimmed) milk at reducing morning munchies1. Kids who regularly eat apples are more likely to have a lower BMI, better overall nutrition, a better diet and be at lower risk of obesity2.

Our apple doughnut snack recipe makes 3 serves per person, and prep time is just 5mins. The best part is this fills tummies whilst also being a fun, creative activity for children. Win, win!

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple per person (creates 3 ‘doughnuts’).
  • Peanut Butter or other nut butter, or cream cheese, ricotta or yoghurt. You could even use nutella!

Method:

  1. Remove the core and then slice the apple horizontally into thirds.
  2. Top with the spread of your choice over the cross section of the apple.
