Where to host a pool party in Brisbane

As the weather heats up and we leave the winter doldrums behind us it’s time to air out the swimming cossies ready for summer. We’ve put together a list of public swimming pools in Brisbane so all you need to do is slather on the sunscreen and pile the kids in to the car for a day of splishing and splashing fun at your local Brisbane swimming pool.

Here is where to find YOUR local pool based on region.

Swimming pools in Brisbane – North side

Albany Creek Leisure Centre

Open all week with early starts and late finishes Monday to Friday and shorter hours on weekends and public holidays. Check website for details.

Facilities: Splash and slide birthday parties, Learn To Swim, Swim squad, Rapid River and Water Slide, Child Care, café.

Burpengary Aquatics

PLEASE NOTE: Burpengary Aquatics is currently closed indefinitely whilst they consider repairs and renovations.

Call the pool directly for opening hours and swimming lesson times.

Facilities: 3 Indoor Pools – 25m Pool and 2 teaching pools (all pools are heated), swim school and junior lifeguard club.

Centenary Pool, Spring Hill

Centenary Aquatic Centre

The Centenary Aquatic Centre’s pool and health club are open 7 days year-round. Separate dive pool is open Saturday and Sunday as well as school holidays. Please note that public holidays may affect these hours.

Facilities: kiosk, swimming lessons, aqua aerobics, squad swimming, stroke development, swim fit, diving, lifeguards, heated indoor pool, wading pool for kids.

Chermside Pool

Chermside Pool’s indoor and outdoor 25-metre heated pool is open 7 days during winter. Lap pool and indoor rehabilitation pool are open 7 days over summer from 19th September. Their waterpark is open weekends and school holidays from September to April. Please note that public holidays may affect these hours. Check website for details.

Ferny Hills Swimming Pool

Open all week long with reduced hours on weekends and public holidays. 50m outdoor heated pool now open all year round. Check website for more details of opening times.

Facilities: Indoor heated pool and heated olympic outdoor pool, toddlers water play area, children’s play gym, pool inflatables, kiosk including hot food, large change rooms with showers, free electric barbeques, disabled access to pool, ample car parking, and close to public transport.

Ithaca Pool, Paddington

Ithaca Pool is open 7 days over summer (September to April). Closed Christmas day, Good Friday, Anzac Day, Labor day and Ekka Day. Open during winter for less hours (and closed Sundays during winter). Check website for details. 

Facilities: kiosk, BBQ facilities, swimming lessons, squad swimming, disabled access and facilities, heated pool, wading pool for kids.

Murrumba Downs Swimming Pool

Closed May to August, and opens 10am to 4pm during public holidays – check website for details. September to April, pool is open all week long.

Facilities: 25 metre heated and partially covered outdoor pool, aqua aerobics, learn to swim classes, squads, BBQ and picnic facilities, kiosk.

Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool

The Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool is closed in winter (check website for dates). Open 7 days over summer. Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday.

Facilities: kiosk, BBQ facilities, swimming lessons, squad swimming, life guards, heated indoor pool, gym, disabled access and facilities, wading pool and water play for kids.

North Lakes Aquatic Centre

Open all week long with reduced hours on weekends and public holidays. Visit website or call centre for more details.

Facilities: 6 lane 25m heated lap pool, heated indoor learn to swim pool and an outdoor play pool with water features, swim school, modern toilets, change facilities, shaded reception area and kiosk. Pools can be hired for community and personal use.

Sandgate Aquatic Centre

The Sandgate Aquatic Centre is closed to the public during winter. Learn to swim classes run all year round. Open 7 days over summer from 5am to 7:30pm on the weekdays. Reduced hours on the weekend. Closed Christmas day and Good Friday. Check website for details.

Spring Hill Baths

Valley Pool, Fortitude Valley

The Valley Pool is open 7 days a week. Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday. Check website for special hours and closures due to events.

Acacia Ridge Leisure Centre

The Acacia Ridge Leisure Centre is open 7 days, including public holidays over summer except for Christmas Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day. Check website for details and winter openings. 

Facilities: swimming lessons, aqua aerobics, squad swimming, lifeguards, disabled access and facilities, 25 metre heated indoor pool during winter, spray-based water play feature for kids. There is a YMCA Gymnastics centre onsite.

Bellbowrie Pool

Open 7 days over summer. Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day. There is a 50m outdoor unheated pool and a 25-metre heated, covered pool. The pool offers reduced winter hours. Contact venue for winter openings.

Brisbane Aquatic Centre – Sleeman Sports Complex

Brisbane Aquatic Centre is Queensland’s premier swimming complex featuring the latest timing and scoring technology to support elite competition. Community access and activities are available throughout the year. The centre holds many family-friendly activities throughout the year so check their website for details.

Open all year long with reduced hours and closures on some public holidays. Their waterslide is opened on the weekends from 1pm to 4pm. Check website for current timetable. 

Facilities: 50m 13 lane heated outdoor pool, 50m, 10 lane indoor pool, with a depth of 2m, heated to 25°C, 25m indoor activity pool, with a depth of 4.8m for diving, heated to 25°C, indoor water play/leisure pool, with a depth of 1.2m, heated to 28°C, diving platforms, from .5m to 10m, indoor water park with obstacle course and 50m waterslide, learn to swim, squad, café, disabled change room facilities, disabled access to pools, water wheelchairs available for use.

Carole Park Swim Centre

Closed during winter, check website for dates. Open 7 days over summer. Opening hours may be extended to late on extra hot days, so phone the pool for details! Closed Christmas Day.

Facilities: kiosk, swimming lessons, lifeguards, heated indoor pool, wading pool for kids. Carole Park Swim Centre also has an outdoor gym and offers beach volleyball, basketball and tennis.

Colmslie Pool, Morningside

Colmslie Pool is open 7 days year round. Kid’s fun pool is open summer only. Check website for updated details.

Dunlop Park Memorial Swimming Pool, Corinda

The Dunlop Park Memorial Swimming Pool is open 7 days year round. It is closed Good Friday, ANZAC Day and Christmas Day, and open 9am to 5pm on other public holidays. Wading pool closed in winter.

Hibiscus Sports Complex, Upper Mt Gravatt

The Hibiscus Sports Complex is open 7 days year round. Closed Christmas day, Good Friday and Anzac Day.

Jindalee Pool

Langland’s Park Memorial Pool, Stones Corner

The Langland’s Park Memorial Pool is open 7 days year round. Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday. Check website for details.

Facilities: kiosk, stroke development, wading pool for kids, 50 metre Olympic heated outdoor swimming pool, a 25m pool, an 18-metre enclosed heated teaching pool and a semi-shaded wading pool. Pools are heated all year round and there is also ample shade.

Mt Gravatt East Swimming Pool

Pool is open 7 days year round. Closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday. Check website for other public holiday and special event closures.

Facilities: kiosk, swimming lessons, squad swimming, life guards, gym, disabled access and facilities, indoor and outdoor pools are heated all year round.

Musgrave Park Pool, South Brisbane

Pool is closed during winter and open 7 days over summer. Closed Australia Day, Good Friday and Christmas Day. Check website for other public holiday closures.

Runcorn Pool

South Bank Streets Beach

Streets Beach South bank

Open 365 days per year. An iconic family delight for all ages South Bank, Streets Beach is a must-visit. A synthetic beach with adjoining swimming pools suitable for babies to adults. Streets Beach is free to use and is patrolled by lifeguards all year round. For more information call the Brisbane Visitors Centre for hours of operation. 

Facilities: Three adjoining swimming pools, interactive water-play park, range of educational play elements, kiosks, snack bars and restaurants, weekend markets, buskers, ice-cream stalls.

Yeronga Park Pool

Yeronga Park Pool is open 7 days over throughout the year. Closed Christmas Day, Anzac Day and Good Friday. Check website for details.

Cleveland Aquatic Centre

Open all week long with reduced hours on weekends and public holidays. Summer and winter trading hours differ. Check website for details.

Facilities: Heated 50m and 25m pools open for lap swimmers, indoor learn to swim pool, swim school, birthday parties, aqua aerobics, squads and adult lessons. 

Manly Pool

PLEASE NOTE: The shade structure at the children’s wading pool is currently unavailable as it requires replacement.

The Plantation Gumdale

Closed on Monday. No public entry from Tuesday to Friday unless booked. Open to the public on the weekends from 10am to 4pm. Closed on all public holidays. Check website for details.

Facilities: Toddlers wading pool, 25m pool, activity pool, waterslides, water features, swim school, six beach volleyball courts, three tennis courts, playing fields, kiosk, picnic tables and pergolas.

Logan North Aquatic and Fitness Centre

Open on weekdays from 5:30am to 8pm with reduced trading hours on the weekend. Check website for public holiday opening hours.

Facilities: Indoor heated 25m learn to swim pool, outdoor heated 50m Olympic pool, fully shaded family leisure pool, Logan North Fitness Centre, Logan Swim School, competitive squad training, Kids Club, Aqua Aerobics, café, and a water play area.

Beenleigh Aquatic Centre

Open Monday to Friday from 6am to 7pm. Reduced opening hours on the weekend. Check pool availabilities before visiting to avoid disappointment.

Facilities: Outdoor 33.3m pool, outdoor water play area, indoor heated 20m pool, accessible change facilities, kiosk, grassed area for picnics and relaxation, toddler pool, Logan Swim School, Aqua Aerobics.

Bethania Aquatic Centre

Open on the weekdays from 6am to 7pm and on weekends 7am to 5pm. Check website for public holiday opening hours.

Facilities: Outdoor 25m pool with 8 lanes, leisure pool with beach entry, Swim & Picnic, shaded areas, disabled access to the pool, kiosk.

Eagleby Aquatic Centre

Open on the weekdays from 6am to 7pm and on weekends 7am to 5pm. Check website for public holiday opening hours. Closed during winter.

Facilities: 5-lane outdoor 25m leisure pool with beach entry, shaded areas, Swim & Picnic, disability access to the pool, kiosk.

Bundamba Swim Centre

Pool is open 7 days year round. Winter and summer trading hours differ. Closed on all public holidays during winter and only on Christmas Day during summer. Check website for more details.

Georgie Conway Leichhardt Community Swim Centre

Goodna Aquatic Centre
