Streets Beach in South Bank Brisbane is a City Beach for Kids

Streets Beach South Bank is an iconic Brisbane venue right in the heart of the city. Where else in the WORLD would you find a BEACH in the CITY?! Here’s what you need to know about this must-see venue if you haven’t been yet or if it’s been a while since you last made a splash.

Streets Beach South Bank

Streets Beach South Bank is freely available for every family to enjoy. The nearby food and drink outlets put a feather in the cap of what’s already a brilliant, affordable family day out.

Streets Beach South Bank is entirely purpose built (it was crafted in the years after Expo 88 transformed the entire South Bank precinct). It’s home to a lagoon, sandy beaches and a wide variety of tropical plants. There are lifeguards but their hours change depending on the season so if you’re curious about supervision you can phone the South Bank Visitor Centre on (07) 3156 6366.

At Christmas time, they even do ‘dive in’ movies!

Water Play for Water Babies

In addition to the sandy fun at Streets Beach South Bank, there are many water play and fountain structures now in place just a few metres south along the boardwalk. Splash fountains, jets, different levels to climb, water trails and more await your tinier tots who aren’t quite at the stage of being able to frolic in deeper water. A lot of these areas are under cover but some aren’t, so ensure you still follow sun-safety protocol!

Family Friendly Facilities at Streets Beach South Bank

There are accessibility-friendly change rooms and toilets available for use at Streets Beach South Bank.

If you’re looking for parking, Families Magazine recommend booking ahead with Secure Parking.

Public transport is also an option. South Bank is the closest train station to Streets Beach and you also have access to the Cultural Centre busway.
