There are LOTS of family-friendly events here and you can plan ahead, because we have listed them on a month by month basis.

March fireworks 2024

Bluewater Festival | Shorncliffe 

  • Friday 29th March, 9am to 8pm – Good Friday 2024

The Bluewater Festival is held on the scenic foreshore at Shorncliffe in conjunction with the annual Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race. It’s a perfect vantage point to watch the start of this iconic race plus an opportunity to see the Multihull Yacht race start up close off the Pier. Head to Lower Moora Park, Shorncliffe for FREE entry to the food festival, markets, entertainment throughout the day including live bands, kids’ activities, rides, and fireworks in the evening.

Caboolture Easter Carnival | Caboolture

  • Friday 29th March, 11am to 6:30pm – Good Friday 2024

The Caboolture Showgrounds bring you the Caboolture Easter Carnival! Come along and enjoy a day of fun with the whole family; there will be amusement rides, a range of different stalls, delicious food, fireworks, plus lots more!

Straddie Easter Carnival | Dunwich 

  • Saturday 30th March 2024, 2pm to 7:30pm

Where better to celebrate Easter Saturday on the 30th of March 2024 than on Stradbroke Island!

This annual Easter community event coordinated by Straddie Sharks Rugby League Club has rides for the kids, showbags, animals, market stalls, and a spectacular fireworks display to end a fantastic day out. Find out the details here.

May fireworks 2024

The Brookfield Show | Brookfield

  • 17 – 19 May 2024, 8am to 5pm

The Brookfield Show is back from Friday 17 – Sun 19 May 2024.

The biggest, little country show is set to amaze and delight show-goers across three jam packed days. From horses to show rides, cooking to circus performers, horticulture and dogs, more than 200 volunteers are hard at work to ensure the show has not only bounced back from torrential rains and flooding, but is going to be better than ever. Live music is held on Friday and Saturday and concludes with fireworks on Sunday. Find out more here.

Ipswich Show | Ipswich 2024

  • 17 – 19 May 2024

The Ipswich Show offers a diverse program, celebrating the agricultural, industrial, pastoral and cultural attributes of our region across three fun-filled, action-packed days! Celebrations kick off on Friday 17 May with show favourites including animals, arts, craft, food, showbags, pig racing,  nightly fireworks, sheep dog demonstrations, sideshow rides and much more. 

The Hills Festival | Multiple locations

  • 1 – 31 May 2024

The Hills will come alive this May with fireworks, rides, entertainment and workshops for the month-long program of Hills Festival.

The Hills District, just north of Brisbane encompassing the suburbs of Arana Hills, Bunya, Draper, Everton Hills, Ferny Hills and Albany Creek, will be stacked with an expansive program of unique events and activities spanning the entire month of May. Find out more here.

Hills Carnivale | Ferny Hills 2024

  • Saturday 25 May 2024, noon to 7pm

The annual Hills Carnivale on Saturday 25th May at George Willmore Park is a FREE entry event with a whole host of activities for little kids and big kids alike. For one day only, enjoy a jam-packed entertainment program. Kids will have lots to keep them busy with amusement rides, workshops and games, and roving entertainers to enjoy. Mum and Dad can wander through the dozens of lifestyle markets and multicultural food stalls while enjoying the talents of our local musical acts. After an evening of music, food and Moreton Bay hospitality, the event will conclude with an extravagant fireworks show. Look to the sky at 7pm and enjoy this grand conclusion to the Hills Festival.

Brisbane New Year’s Eve Fireworks 2023/2024

The Lord Mayor’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks 2023 | South Bank

Celebrate the end of 2023 with The Lord Mayor’s NYE Fireworks, lighting up the river at South Bank for the city’s official New Year’s Eve celebration.

Join the family-friendly fun at South Bank Parkland with free firework displays and food vendors. The most important element is the spectacular firework displays that are in store. There’s a family-friendly session at 8:30pm for those who like an early night, and another at midnight for late-night revellers. Both sets of fireworks will feature amazing colours and an awesome soundtrack.

New Years at Bulimba Golf Club 2023 | Bulimba

Ring in the New Year with Bulimba Golf Club! Head along for food, friends, and fun as we say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024. With plenty of activities, including two SPECTACULAR fireworks displays (8pm & midnight), kids disco (6pm-8pm), jumping castle, face painting, food trucks and live music from the Lazy Hyenas (8pm – 10pm) and a DJ from 10pm – midnight, this event is perfect for families!

Tivoli NYE Celebrations 2023 | Tivoli Drive-In

Say farewell to 2023 at the Tivoli-Drive In for this New Year’s Eve festival. With a bustling market place, exciting on-stage entertainment and plenty of family fun. The whole family will enjoy the fantastic fireworks finale.

Ipswich NYE Fireworks 2023 | South Ripley, Chuwar, Ipswich Central, Goodna & Springfield Central

Look to the skies around Ipswich on 31 December with firework shows set to herald in the new year from 9pm. The Springfield Central, South Ripley and Ipswich Central fireworks locations have been chosen strategically in central locations where residents can view the displays from their home backyards or in large, open public spaces nearby.

New Year’s Eve Tropical Fiesta 2023 | Victoria Point

Head along to Victoria Point Lakeside from 5pm to enjoy children’s activities, food trucks, market stalls, entertainment, and fireworks on the lake from 9pm. Dress up in your favourite tropical outfit to be in the best-dressed competition!

Taste of Tuscany NYE 2023 | Eight Mile Plains 

The Glen Hotel Italian NYE tradition continues in 2023! Enjoy a Night in Tuscany and bring la familia down to The Glen Hotel this New Year’s Eve for a little Italy experience like no other. Enjoy pizza and pasta specials across the venue from 5.30pm. Fireworks will conclude the family-friendly event at 9pm as we welcome 2024 and the fun it will bring! Bookings are strongly recommended, with the event likely to sell out like previous years.

New Year’s at Carina Leagues Club 2023 | Carina 

It’s time to strap on your dancing shoes and boogie your way into 2024! There will be entertainment from 2pm, and Playland will be open from 11am until 9pm plus there will be face painters and balloon artists from 6pm – 9pm. Two huge fireworks displays take place at 9.30pm and midnight. Booking is strongly recommended.

Gold Coast New Year’s Fireworks 2023

Moonlight Magic 2023 | Broadwater Parklands

Get the family together for a good time this New Year’s Eve! Broadwater Parklands will come alive with live music, kids’ activities, fabulous food trucks and an early fireworks show!

Bring your picnic blanket and get your place on the main lawn, all the fun starts at 4pm with the fireworks display at 8pm. Grab dinner from one of the awesome food trucks or bring your own picnic.

New Year’s Eve Event 2023 | Coomera

Get ready to farewell 2023 with a whole lot of free family fun! Coomera will have an evening of live entertainment, delicious food trucks and an awesome fireworks display at 8pm.

Harley Park New Year’s Eve 2023 | Labrador

Enjoy a fun-filled evening in Harley Park. Enjoy entertainment, rides, food trucks, and much, much more. The fireworks finale will take place at 9pm.

New Year’s Eve Party in the Park 2023 | Molendinar

Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a free community event in Silver Bridle Park Molendinar.

There will be live entertainment, jumping castle, amusement rides, face painting, bubble blowing, baby animal farm and activities.

Grab a bite from food trucks and community barbecue.

Sunshine Coast New Year’s Fireworks 2023

New Year’s Eve 2023 | Mooloolaba | Caloundra | Coolum

This New Year’s Eve, the Sunshine Coast will deliver a fabulous New Year’s Eve event for all ages. See 2023 out with a bang in Mooloolaba with firework displays at 8.30pm and midnight, along with food trucks, face painters, market stalls, DJs and lots of fun. The Red Frogs will be there providing a safe and fun space for young people to enjoy the occasion.

There are also firework displays at Caloundra Kings Beach at 9.30pm and Coolum at 8.30pm.

January 2023 fireworks 

Australia Day Celebration | Bribie Island 2023 

Head to Bribie Island and celebrate Australia Day by the water. From 5pm – 7:30pm enjoy an evening of festivities and free family fun, followed by fireworks from two different locations to finish an absolute ripper of a day.

The Brighton Roosters are hosting a family fun day to celebrate Australia Day from 11am on Thursday 26th January 2023 at Jim Lawrie Oval, Brighton. Families will love the rides, crab races, live music, food trucks and 7:30pm fireworks!

The Oxley Community Festival is back on 26th January 2023, from 1pm-8pm. This year will be bigger and better than ever before! Head along to this family friendly event for live entertainment, music, rides, face painting and ending with fireworks at 7.15pm!

The Mudgeeraba Show offers families a fabulous day out experiencing a wide variety of tastes, sights, sounds and delights plus fireworks!

Redcliffe Show, Redcliffe 2023

The Redcliffe Show is held at the Redcliffe Showgrounds. There is a firework display on Friday and Saturday night for the family to enjoy.

Bonfire Night, Sandstone Point Hotel 2023

The Sandstone Point Hotel’s annual Bonfire Night is back to warm your winter night on Saturday 1 July! Bonfire Night usually sells out and it’s no surprise as the spectacular event has flame shows, pyrotechnics, fire twirlers, rides, live music, food, and dessert trucks and of course, fireworks!

August fireworks 2023

The EKKA – Royal Queensland Show 2023

  • 12 – 20 August 2023

At Families Magazine, we LOVE the EKKA! We believe when it comes to festivals, Brisbane’s beloved EKKA is the cream of the crop! It’s been around since 1876 (if you can believe it!) and showcases all the best things about living in Queensland. Rides, showbags, displays, agricultural pursuits, games, media displays and so much more are on offer for families looking to have a brilliant day (or couple of days) off. And yes, they have a nightly firework display which is the perfect end to the perfect day!

September is the second best month for amazing fireworks after New Years because September is the month of the Brisbane Festival and Riverfire! Brisbane Festival takes place 1 – 23 September 2023.

December fireworks for 2023

3 December | Redcliffe Christmas Carols 2023

Take a drive out from the river city to see some of the best Christmas Carols in Brisbane. The signature giant snow globes will be back, providing the perfect white Christmas photo opportunity. Santa’s Village will feature Christmas-themed roving entertainment, kids’ workshops, free face-painting and more! Don’t forget to bring your best vocals with lots of family-friendly entertainment on offer!

The Caboolture Christmas Carols are one of the amazing Christmas carol events around the Moreton Bay region. Pack a picnic blanket or chairs and jingle your way down to Centenary Lakes Park in Caboolture for a truly MAGICAL evening. There will be markets, Santa’s Village, Fireworks, free entry and more!

10 December | North Lakes Christmas Carols 2023

There will be lots of family-friendly entertainment on offer, so everyone can get into the spirit of the season while enjoying performances by local community groups. So, bring your best vocals and a blanket to spread out, relax and enjoy a magical evening. You can even do some Christmas gift shopping at the twilight markets or grab a bite to eat from the food trucks onsite. Then finish the evening with a ‘bang’, watching the sky light up with a spectacular fireworks display!

17 December | Christmas Carnival Sandstone Point 2023

If you love the holiday season deerly, it would be rude-olph to miss this! Enjoy plenty of festivities for the whole family. From 2pm-8pm, find that perfect gift at the Christmas markets or have a tree-mendous time enjoying the food stalls, fireworks, live music, kids rides, entertainment and of course a visit from Santa. Get ready for your favourite Christmas carols and rockin’ around the Christmas tree. Bookings required.
