Toowoomba Touch – Get to know your locals!

There are a very well established set of touch football clubs linked by governing body Toowoomba Touch Association (TTA). TTA is a non-profit organisation supported by the Toowoomba City Council as part of the Kearney’s Spring Management Committee.

The competition is played at the Kearney’s Spring Sports Complex on Friday and Wednesday Nights. U8s, U10s, U12s and U14s play on Friday nights while U16s play on Wednesday nights. There are many great benefits involved in having your children participate in team sports; boosting confidence while exercising and learning to play as a team are all great for your children’s health and development.

The Sharks club kids team, the “All Stars”, participates in the junior competition running from October-March annually. This includes ages U8s, U10s, U12s, U14s and U16s. Minimum playing age is 6 years old. The junior competition is held Friday afternoon at the Toowoomba Touch fields at Kearney’s Spring.

Lions

Saints

Saints Touch Club is a family orientated organisation that is prominent as a successful team within the competition. Good sportsmanship is encouraged and taught both on and off the field. Saints participate within the Toowoomba Touch Winter Competition from March to September annually. The club has both Men’s and Women’s teams as well as youth competitions (minimum age is 12).

The Royals club has teams within the junior TTA competition. Royals teams train once a week and compete at the Toowoomba Touch fields on Saturday afternoons.

Janine Mergler is a veteran Queensland teacher, graduating from QUT with a BEd majoring in Social Sciences. After many years in the classroom, Janine moved on to academia. She has proudly trained new generations of teachers in her role as a lecturer at Queensland University of Technology Faculty of Education.
