Top Date Nights on the Gold Coast, for under $20

Are you looking for date night ideas Gold Coast style?

Have you forgotten what it’s like to spend a bit of quality ‘alone’ time with your partner? Always looking for fun things to do with the ankle-biters and leaving your needs until last? It’s time to book a babysitter and escape with the one you love on one of these fun, budget friendly Gold Coast date ideas for under $20 each.

Cheer on an Amateur Sports Team

Grab your colourful scarves and head to your local sports club. It doesn’t really matter who’s playing – or even what the sport is – just let yourselves get carried away with the excitement of cheering on your chosen team. Win or lose, when the game is over you can head back inside the sports club for a cheap bite to eat.

Get Competitive with Mini Golf

It’s fun, it’s different, it’s even slightly romantic. Imagine an evening spent strolling along beautifully manicured green lawns elegantly lit by lamps and stars, past sparkling fountains and over little wooden bridges in expertly landscaped surroundings … then imagine your competitive streak bursting forth as you strive to beat your partner for that ultimate mini hole-in-one. Mini Golf at Parkwood International is open until 9pm, 7 days a week (no bookings required) and there’s even a bar and bistro on-site to celebrate your victory in after.

Browse the Night Markets

Please note – the NightQuarter markets have closed down as at February 2019. There are plans to relocate. We will update our information as these plans come to light.

A balmy night spent browsing crafts and wares, and taste-testing fresh local produce, can be a blissfully relaxing experience – especially when you’re kid-free.

The Beachfront Markets at Surfers Paradise are open until 9pm on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights, the Miami Marketta is fortnightly on a Friday from 5:00pm, and one of our favourites is the NightQuarter markets, open Friday and Saturday 4pm-10pm. You’ll always find something to eat and a little street entertainment at a night market. Check out their discounted date night idea here.

Be a Tourist

Grab your camera and take a fresh look at your home city through the eyes of a tourist. Have fun with wacky poses in front of famous Gold Coast landmarks, or drive out to one of the many look-outs to take in the city lights. Pretend that you’re new to the city and browse the tourist information stand in a hotel lobby for ideas. Where would you go? What would you do? Are their any local attractions you’ve always wanted to visit but never got around to? Tonight is the night. If you want to save a fortune on a Gold Coast date night check out the options here.

Amateur Dramatics

Drama, suspense, comedy and chorus, and all with an element of the unexpected. There’s always an amateur production on somewhere, whether at a village hall, local school or small theatre company, and half the fun is in anticipating scenery fails and jumbled lines. Whatever the production, you’ll be providing valuable support to local groups in your community – and you might even discover a new hobby for yourself.
