You will need:

  • Scotch tape
  • Small sharp scissors
  • Dinner fork
  • Embroidery needle
  • 2 Paper drinking straws
  • Wool in various colours
  • 50cm lengths of wool in a different colour

Step 1:

Cut a length of wool at approximately 40cm and set it to the side.

Step 2:

Pick up the ball of wool and the fork. Begin to wind the wool around the fork, making sure to hold the loose end in place.

Step 3:

Wind the wool around the centre of the fork. Keep winding the wool over the same spot keeping it nice and tight.

Step 4:

Use some scotch tape to hold the loose end in place. Take the length of wool you cut earlier and poke it through the middle fork prong.

Step 5:

Make a single knot and the poke back through the middle prong.

Step 6:

Do this three times and then, keeping the wool very tight, tie a double knot

Step 7:

Holding where you just tied the knot slide the wool off the fork.

Step 8:

Using the scissors cut thru the loops of the wool all the way around.

Step 9:

Fluff up the Pom Pom into a ball shape and give it a little haircut to tidy it up.

Step 10:

Repeat this process with the other colours of wool.

Step 11:

Using the embroidery needle make a hole thru the top of each straw.

Step 12:

Use some scotch tape to help thread the wool onto the needle.

Step 13:

Sew through the Pom Poms.

  1. Cuuute! Hmm.. it’s been a while since I’ve gotten my craft on. But this seems easy enough to do… and would work for my nieces birthday party. Have added to the list of things to attempt while baby is napping. ?

  2. I am fond of a good cake garland! It makes it look like my dismal decorating attempts are actually deliberate decorative rusticness! And I do love a spot of craft.
