We needed a proper reset beach air, easy food, and activities the kids would actually enjoy. So we booked four days on the Gold Coast for our family of four and based ourselves in Broadbeach, which turned out to be the best call for a relaxed, walk-everywhere kind of stay. We kept the days fun but not overpacked, mixed in a few big-ticket experiences, and still had plenty of time for sand, swims, and slow meals. Here’s how the trip played out, day by day.
Day 1 – Arrival in the Gold Coast + Broadbeach Evening

We landed on the Gold Coast and picked up our hire car from Bargain Car Rentals. We’d half expected the usual airport chaos with bags and kids in tow, but the shuttle showed up almost straight away and the whole process was done quicker than we thought. An easy start always sets the tone for a family trip.
Our base for the stay was Mantra Sierra Grand, where we checked into a 30th-floor apartment. The kids made a beeline for the private indoor pool while we stood there taking in the view ocean on one side, city lights on the other. It instantly felt like we were properly on holiday.
We didn’t overplan the first night. After unpacking, we headed out for a wander around Broadbeach. It’s flat, walkable, and relaxed – ideal after a travel day. Dinner was at Fricken Broadbeach, where the kids demolished their burgers and we enjoyed sitting outside with the sea breeze rolling through. No rushing, no schedules just an easy first night that eased us into the days ahead.
Day 2 – Skypoint Breakfast + Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
We kept the morning deliberately slow. From the 30th floor, the view was good enough that no one rushed anywhere, and the private pool came in handy again. The kids treated it like a mini water park, which bought us time to enjoy the view and ease into the day properly.

Late morning, we headed to SkyPoint Observation Deck for breakfast. The buffet had plenty to keep everyone happy, but it was the setting that made it special. Sitting up there with the coastline stretching out in every direction, we ended up taking far more photos than planned easily some of our favourites from the trip.
From there, we made our way south to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s one of those places that works just as well for adults as it does for kids. The highlight for us was the crocodile feeding watching a 5-metre saltwater crocodile launch out of the water had everyone completely silent for a moment. It was exciting, a little intimidating, and genuinely fascinating.

By the time we headed back to Broadbeach, everyone was happily worn out. We kept the evening low-key at the hotel, ordered an early night, and let the kids wind down after a full but well-paced day.
Day 3 – Dreamworld Rides + Tiger Feeding Experience
We started the day with an easy breakfast in Broadbeach, knowing it was going to be a long one. By the time we reached Dreamworld, the kids were already bouncing with excitement the kind you only get on theme park days.

Once inside, we settled into a good rhythm and managed to tick off most of the big rides without feeling rushed. The standout experience for all of us was Tiger Island. Watching the tiger feeding up close was intense in the best way seeing how powerful and agile they are gave everyone a new level of respect, and the kids couldn’t stop talking about it afterward.

Another clear favourite was the motorbike ride. One of our kids was just tall enough to ride, and that alone made it feel like a milestone moment. The grin when it launched said everything, and it became the story they retold for the rest of the day.

By the time we headed back to Broadbeach, everyone was tired in that good, happy way. We kept the evening simple, grabbed food close to the hotel, and called it an early night after a full-on but fantastic day.
Day 4 – Surfers Paradise Fun + Beach Time
We kept our final day loose and headed into Surfers Paradise with no real plan other than to explore. It’s busy, colourful, and full of energy, but during the day it still works well for families. The kids loved the buzz street performers, bright signs, and plenty happening everywhere you looked.
We stopped for brunch at a Mexican restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The portions were generous, the food was fresh, and there were enough kid-friendly options that no one had to negotiate over menus always a win on the last day of a trip.

After eating, we wandered through the entertainment areas and arcades. The kids happily bounced between games and activities while we slowed things down, knowing there was no schedule left to chase. It felt like letting the holiday taper off naturally rather than squeezing in one last big attraction.

To wrap it all up, we finished the afternoon at Surfers Paradise Beach. The kids played in the sand, we sat back with the ocean in front of us, and the whole trip ended quietly — no rushing, no ticking clocks, just a calm moment before heading home.
