How To Get Your Child Playing Netball in Ipswich

Ipswich boasts a proud sporting heritage and loves its sport, especially netball. It’s an ideal sport to introduce kids from as young as 5 to the concept of team work and the benefits that come from playing together. The physical and social skills that your child can develop from being a member of a netball team are well known and so if you’re in the Ipswich area, here’s how they can join in.

Indoor netball in Ipswich is fantastic sporting fun!

Netball Ipswich

While netball has traditionally been an outdoors sport played on a hard surface, taking it indoors has been a game changer and made the sport available to more players.

Indoor netball means no cancelled games due to poor weather conditions, no over exposure to harmful sun during midday fixtures and indoor lighting allows great flexibility for scheduling training and match times.

The Ipswich Indoor Sports Centre at the showgrounds is home to indoor netball in the area and offers a Junior Competition for kids.

Over the years the Association has hosted many state netball events and its renowned facilities include 24 hard surfaced courts.

The NET-SET-GO program has been designed to introduce young players to the game (ages five to seven) and is a taste of what’s to come in club games that begin with teams aged from eight.

There are currently nine clubs participating in the Ipswich competition. A list of the clubs with their contact details can be found on the Association’s website.  Across these clubs there are than 100 teams representing varying ages and grades. Most of the clubs have a Facebook page that would allow you to get a feel for each club when it’s time to choose the right one for your child to join.

Players registering for Ipswich netball in 2016 as new, not returning, can submit details via email to the INA for membership. The website also provides information sheets on sideline safety and other policies of the Association.
