Get Help with Laundry with this Kids T-Shirt Folding Machine

Are you trying to get your kids to help with the laundry? Do they love gadgets and toys and games? Master 10 has created an easy to build ‘T-Shirt Folding Machine’ from something he saw on Youtube (who says screen time is all bad?).

Here is his blog post….

D.I.Y T-Shirt Folding Machine

Do your kids hate folding their own laundry?

This machine will happily encourage your kids to fold it in a fun new way. Meet the D.I.Y. T-Shirt Folding Machine. It is really easy to build and has a four step fold mechanism. In no time, your kids will be folding their way through the laundry. I made it on the school holidays as a project, but mum says you can make it anytime!

It’s a simple and easy thing to do and costs very little to nothing.

What you need to make the machine to fold your shirts

  • 6x A4 Sheets of Card (I used two A4 cardboard boxes and cut the pieces out)
  • 1x Roll of Duct Tape
  • Scissors
  • Pens

How to build your t-shirt folding machine

Follow these easy steps  to build your very own shirt folding machine in less than 1 hour.

1 – Place your sheets of card (or pieces of your box) in a 2 by 3 rectangular shape.

2 – Duct tape along the middle of the three cards.

3 – Place tape on the side of the left bottom sheet.

4 – Place tape on the top of the middle top sheet.

5 – Cut through the middle of the bottom middle card.

6 – Re tape it back together. (This makes an easier fold.)

7 – Cut the tape where it stops the card from folding.

8 – Make a few small cuts were the card would pull another card.

9 – Decorate your folder to make it stand out of the ordinary.

10 – Test it out! Your D.I.Y. Clothing Folder is ready to be used.

Benefits of the t-shirt folder

The D.I.Y. T-Shirt Folder encourages kids to fold their own laundry in a fun and creative way. It’s a really fun school holiday activity for kids. Kids love to use different items to do things. Creativity is a great ting to encourage in your kids and mum loves it when I make stuff.
