Tallebudgera Creek – Your Gold Coast Kids Will LOVE It!

Tallebudgera Creek is the perfect choice for family’s looking for something away from the rat race. It’s one of our favourite Gold Coast destinations – here’s why!

Tallebudgera Creek with kids

Tallebudgera Creek is a great place to relax, snorkel, splash and chill out without worrying about big surf and big crowds. The area is bordered by Burleigh Heads National Park and Palm Beach. The focus here is on swimming, snorkelling, fishing, kayaking and general good vibes.

There are some local accommodation options nearby but it’s totally doable for a day trip. If you’re into bigger waves then it’s a quick trot to Tallebudgera Beach. We love the creek, though, because it’s great for kids who are less confident and adults who want to relax a little!

Snorkelling

Crystal clear waters offer a great choice for some calm snorkelling with your Gold Coast kids. We love it because both sides of the creek offer beach entry and it’s easy to swim from one side to another. You’ll see turtles, dolphins, crabs and an amazing array of gorgeous fish. Sometimes, however, the current can be quite strong. We’d definitely recommend timing your trip so you’re snorkelling at high tide when the water is the clearest and the current is weakest.

Picnics and BBQs

There are some BBQ set ups for families. There are plenty of shady trees and lots of ground to spread out a picnic blanket. It’s seriously so calm and peaceful – you’re likely to have a nanna-nap! Bring the umbrella for extra sun protection. There’s also a great playground for kids!

Check this list for other great picnic spots in the Gold Coast / Tweed / Byron area!

Swimming at Tallebudgera Creek

Tallebudgera Creek 5

This is one of the most beautiful natural swimming spots we’ve ever been to. The water is so calm here that the perfect mix of colours between shallow and deeper water look like they’re something out of a postcard.

This is a great place for learners and for more confident swimmers. Visibility is high and there’s plenty of room to spread out. Seriously fun swimming times ahead!

Kayaking and Paddle boarding

Adults and bigger kids will delight in the experience of kayaking in the peaceful waters of Tallebudgera Creek. Everything’s easy and breezy! Check out the many hire places around the traps to find the best local deal on kayak and paddle hire.
