How & Why We Travel as a Family | Jetsetting Kids

To inspire your 2018, we’ve asked 6 Australian families who ‘prioritise travelling’ to tell us how and why they travel with kids. Paula and family from Jetsetting Kids is our fourth family.

Tell us a bit about your family

We’re a jet setting family of four sharing our adventures and travel tips on our blog. As a mum of two active boys (8 & 6), I’m always looking for things to do that will keep them out of trouble!

Tell us where you are right now

We’re based in beautiful Brisbane and are a proud to be included in Queensland Tourism and Event’s Top 20 travel blogs to follow in 2018. We can’t help but write about our beautiful home state of Queensland.

Where have you travelled to as a family?

Jetsetting Kids

Malaysia, Fiji, Japan, New Zealand and America are just some of our travel highlights.  Europe is in our sights for later in 2018.

Why have you made travelling a priority?

For us, it’s a way of life. We’ve got the bug and now we can’t stop! It also helps that Mr Jetsetting Kids travels quite a bit for work.

How do you afford to travel?

Points, points and more points. We pay for everything on credit card. We pool our points through to Westpac’s Altitude Rewards program and then redeem them with our preferred airlines. We also live by the saying ‘experiences over things’ – so we try to spend only on the things we really need.

Where is your favourite family holiday and why?

Jetsetting Kids

We have become huge fans of cruise life – last year we went on four cruises. On board kids clubs and activities give you that instant holiday feeling.

When travelling, no parent should be without…

Activities for your kids.  Pack a busy bag for the plane, one for the hotel and restaurants and one for the trip home.  Go for disposable but activity-rich activities like colouring-in and ‘stickering’… and only bring out one activity at a time. Never show your full hand!

If you could inspire another family to travel, what would you say?

Jetsetting Kids

Don’t wait, just go! Your children are never too little travel. If they don’t remember the exact details of your holiday – you will and those memories are priceless.

We are always looking for cheap holidays for families. What’s your hot tip for our readers?

Follow your preferred airlines and hotels Facebook pages. Set up alerts so you can see updates from them first and subscribe to their e-newsletters. I always find booking direct, gives the best deals.
