It’s that time of year, Carols by Candlelight. There’s no better way to shake off the bah humbugs than a good dose of Christmas carols with flameless candles lighting up angelic little faces. We’ve put together a list of the very best places to enjoy Christmas Carols, Gold Coast to Byron Bay in 2022.

2022 Christmas Carols Gold Coast to Byron Bay

Get ready for some of the biggest and best family-friendly Christmas carols on the Gold Coast all the way to Byron this year.

Thursday 2 December

Carols on the Green | Sanctuary Cove 

TBC for 2022: A stellar lineup of local performers will sing on the night including Carollers, Renae Suttie and Wes Taylor Duo, and the event will include the much loved and celebrated Rotary Buggy Parade.  Carols on the Green is a family-friendly event will conclude with a special appearance by Santa and Rudolf.

Saturday 4 December

Tugun Lights Up | Tugun 

Tugun Lights Up Christmas Carols

TBC for 2022: Tugun Lights Up returns this year! Picture streets lit up with colourful fairy lights and quality live music playing close to the beach. Dine under the stars at one of the fantastic local cafes or restaurants, check out the local window displays and special offers, or visit the Christmas market stalls. There will be plenty of children’s entertainment on offer throughout the program with Santa making a special appearance!

Gold Coast Mayor’s Christmas Carols | Surfers Paradise 

TBC for 2022: The 10th year of the Mayor’s Christmas Carols will be hosted at HOTA (Home of the Arts) in Surfers Paradise. It will be COVID safe and will also be broadcast for the first time on local free to air TV. While the event will be free, tickets are strictly limited, and bookings will be essential. It’s sure to be a fun night out!

Sunday 5 December

Elanora Community Christmas Carols | Elanora 

TBC for 2022: Elanora Community Christmas Carols will be going ahead again – hooray! Kids will love the jumping castle, food trucks, puppet show, local community group items, and more! Santa will be there to greet at the gate from 5pm, carols start at 6pm. This is a FREE event hosted by Cross and Crown Church – bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the fun!

Monday 6 December

Currumbin Christmas Carols | Currumbin 

TBC for 2022: Currumbin Community Christmas Carols is a family-friendly event bringing the joy of Christmas to residents. A selection of fun Children’s activities will be available. Stage entertainment will commence at 5.30pm with a traditional Christmas concert including dancing, children’s stage show and a Santa appearance. The evening will conclude with a spectacular laser light show. This is an approved COVID Safe Event and admission is FREE.

Thursday 9 December

North Burleigh Carols by the Sea | North Burleigh 

TBC for 2022: Enjoy a wonderful afternoon and evening of FREE Christmas entertainment and fun at Ed Hardy Park this December. ‘North Burleigh Carols by the Sea’ will provide a festive mixture of children’s activities, food trucks and markets from 4pm to 6pm; followed by Christmas staged entertainment including Carols, Community Groups and live music from 6pm to 8pm.

Friday 10 December

Byron Bay’s Carols by the Sea | Byron Bay 

TBC for 2022: The Byron Carols by the Sea will premiere on Friday 11th December – watch this space for further details in the coming weeks!

Studio Village Community Carols  | Studio Village

TBC for 2022: Take your family along to Studio Park to enjoy a merry dose of the Studio Village Community Christmas Carols. Santa has passed quarantine and will be at the Carols with his friends Frosty, Rudolph and his favourite Elf. Free glowsticks on arrival for the kids.

Nerang Celebrates Christmas | Nerang 

Nerang Celebrates Christmas

TBC for 2022: This event is so much fun for the whole family with afternoon entertainment, face painting and rides from 3pm.  Enjoy a variety of food vendors, fairy floss, and a sausage sizzle. Just bring your picnic blanket to enjoy a magical Christmas experience. Find out more here.

Carols by the Lake | Robina

TBC for 2022: Celebrate Christmas this year with ‘Carols by the Lake’ at The Promenade, Robina Town Centre. Enjoy loads of free family fun including live music, kids activities, roving entertainment, Christmas carols, a visit from Santa, performances by community groups and so much more! Local restaurants and businesses at Robina Town Centre will also be serving up some festive food and special offers.

Seagulls Christmas Carols | Tweed Heads

TBC for 2022: Join the Seagulls Club for their annual Christmas Carols with food, singing, Christmas spirit and Fireworks! It will be a lovely evening on the foreshore, so bring your family along!

Sunday 12 December

Coolangatta Christmas Carols | Coolangatta 

Coolangatta Christmas Carols

TBC for 2022: Coolangatta’s Queen Elizabeth Park will come alive with the spirit of Christmas on Sunday 12 December, with the free Coolangatta Christmas Carols. Sing along to your favourite carols, enjoy spectacular festive performances, and settle in for a magical night under the Southern Gold Coast stars. Santa will be making an appearance by plane with plenty of entertainment for everyone to enjoy. The Coolangatta Christmas Markets and food trucks will be open from 4pm to 8pm (Qld time), with the stage show starting at 5.30pm. The event includes a fantastic festive fireworks display. Booking required!

Pacific Pines Christmas Carols | Pacific Pines 

TBC for 2022: The Pacific Pines Residents Group are hosting the Pacific Pines Christmas Carols this Sunday starting at 4 in the afternoon and going through to 8 in the evening at Central Park, Hotham Drive, Pacific Pines.

There will be performances from local entertainers including Annabelele Sara, HIPA Studio, Mikky and the Other Guy and Coastal Charisma Choir.

The Carols will be headlined by Guy ‘Mutto’ Mutton from Australian Idol performing with former Ten Tenor Anthony Phipps and the Gold Coast Youth Choir. Of course no Carols are complete without a visit from Santa and Gold Coast’s singing Santa from the Mayor’s Christmas Carols will also be performing. This is no ordinary performance on stage. Get ready for the most exciting and interactive Santa show in Queensland. Join Santa, Mrs Claus and Rudolf for a Christmas extravaganza that includes a mix of traditional carols and current pop songs. Last year Santa was riding Shotgun, wonder what surprises he has for us this Christmas. 

A spectacular fireworks display will complete what will be a brilliant night at 8pm.

Come and do some last minute Christmas shopping with some amazing market stalls or come down and try some of the yummy food from the food trucks.

The Pacific Pines Residents Group will be running a giant raffle with over $2,000 in prizes and all proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Guanaba Rural Fire Brigade to purchase some much needed equipment for their station.

There will be free jumping castles and a pop up playground for the kids, so bring a picnic blanket or your camp chairs and come and join us at the Pacific Pines Christmas Carols for a wonderful evening out with the family.

Monday 20 December

Carols on the Broadwater | Southport Yacht Club 

TBC for 2022: Join in at Southport Yacht Club for a family fun evening of Christmas Carols at Carols on the Broadwater overlooking the stunning Marina and Broadwater. Enjoy live carols, face painting, games, and carolers. A $19 Kids plated dinner (3yrs – 12yrs) & $39 Adults – Plated dinner (1 choice of 3 options) is available.  Make sure you stay around and watch Santa’s Jetpack show! His big departure will be a night to remember for all. Bookings essential.

Surfers Paradise Carols on the Beach | Surfers Paradise 

TBC for 2022:  Surfers Paradise Carols on the Beach is a family friendly event starting at 3 pm. It will feature singers and dancers for a night of fantastic family entertainment. The event will finish off with fireworks and a visit form Santa. So bring a picnic blanket, your best singing voice and join in on the fun. The Carols will start at 6.30pm and will finish at around 8 pm with fireworks

    Just a quick update –

    Elanora Community Christmas Carols will be going ahead again in 2020 – hooray! Sunday 13th December @ Elanora State School oval. Jumping castle, food trucks, puppet show, local community group items and more! Santa will be there to greet at the gate from 5pm, carols start at 6pm. Free event hosted by Cross and Crown Church – bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the fun!
