If you’re looking to expand your collection of children’s toys or art and craft materials, what about some new t-shirts for them to get mucky in? Why not consider a trip to one of many Brisbane op shops. Thrifty, environmentally-conscious and usually quite cheap! What’s not to love?
Sometimes called Charity Shops, these bargain centres are a great way to save on the cost of living in Brisbane!
Brisbane op shops for children’s clothes, toys and craft supplies
In one of many Brisbane op shops you’ll find everything from barely used, big name toys to reams and reams of crafting materials for a fraction of retail price. Kids costumes, bedroom decorations, nursery lamps, children’s furniture – once you go op, you’ll just never stop! Plenty of opportunities here to create budget educational opportunities for your little ones.
Whether you are donating something you own and no longer need or looking to snag a quick bargain, there are Brisbane Op Shops on both the Northside or Southside to meet your needs! Some refer to their offerings as ‘vintage’, some people are expert ‘op-shoppers’ with an eye for an antique bargain. Some, like me, pop in to snaffle a treasure for a craft project. Whatever your reason for visiting Brisbane Op Shops you’ll find the ones we’ve listed here have plenty of second hand clothing, children’s toys, furniture, kitchenware and bric-a-brac. You are bound to find something to do the job at hand and you can rest assured knowing that your money is being put to good use to help people (and animals) in need.
We’ve collated a list of locations of Brisbane op shops where you’re sure to find the perfect things for the littlest members of your family. Who knows – it may even teach them a handy lesson about the value of money. If we’ve forgotten Brisbane op shops that you love, be sure to let us know in the comments!
Brisbane Tips Shops
Brisbane City Council’s two tip shops are open every weekend and sell quality used, recycled and second-hand products which have been salvaged before going to landfill. Brisbane’s tip shops are operated by the Endeavour Foundation, one of the largest non-government organisations in Australia supporting and providing opportunities for people with a disability.
Items sold at the tip shops have been donated for reuse via Council’s resource recovery centres. These quality reuseable items include:
- household furnishings
- collectables
- books
- toys
- sporting equipment
You can find the tip shops at:
- Acacia Ridge Tip Shop – 46 Colebard Street West, Acacia Ridge
- Geebung Tip Shop – 27A Prosperity Place, Geebung

One of my favourite places to pick up a bargain has now reopened and i highly recommend checking it out. RSPCA thrift shop at Stones Corner. Personally I shop there for the huge selection of brand name clothes that are always so cheap! They also have a full wall of various different homewares and a huge range of cds, dvds, books, furniture, jewellery, bags, accessories, kids toys, bric a brac and other miscellaneous items. Parking is conviently located around the back of the store although took me a little while to find the first time (driveway is off Cleveland St). I also picked up a pair of genuine 9ct gold earrings there once a little while back for $2.00 so always worth looking for those hidden treasures. The best thing about it all though is that the money goes to helping rescue and save animal lives and i think thats a very important cause.
