REVIEW: Aura Island Park | The Newest Playground in Nirimba

Stockland has just opened a brand new island-themed park and playground – complete with a beach volley-ball court – in one of its newest estates! The Island Park, Nirimba is great for kids like my two girls who love to scramble and climb with plenty of nets, soft play flooring, and sand to cushion any falls!

Where is Aura Island Park?

  • Frederick Street, Nirimba in the new Stockland Aura estate on the Sunshine Coast

Playground equipment at Aura Island Park

The new 6850sq m Island Park in Nirimba draws inspiration from the Moreton Bay islands and is reminiscent of an adventure to a lost paradise. The playground includes a hammock swing, rope swing, climbing net, balance bridges, spinners, sandpit, and slides for younger visitors. For the older kids, the park also features an active play zone including a custom beach volleyball court and kick about lawn. We love that there is plenty of shade over the play areas.

Don’t forget to bring the bike or scooter

The park is located in a quiet estate and is surrounded by flat paths perfect for young riders to practice.

Playground includes

  • Slides
  • Climbing net
  • Spinners
  • Suspension bridge
  • Custom beach volleyball court
  • Sandpit
  • Covered area with seating

Aura Park trail

Island Park, Nirimba forms part of the ever-growing Aura park trail – a network of 10 uniquely themed interconnected parks located throughout the Sunshine Coast community – and fulfils the Stockland’s vision to have a park within 400 metres of every home.

The suburb of Nirimba also houses the Fig Tree Park, which features a flying fox, climbing wall, climbing reeds, picnic shelters, barbecues, and a half-court basketball court. Adjacent to the Fig Tree park is Aura’s newest dog park, a fully fenced park for dogs big and small to run and socialise.

Nearest cafe to Aura Island Park

The nearest cafe to the playground is a super cute converted shipping container painted pink and called Mummy’s Cafe. Located on Central Ave in Bells Creek just around the corner from the new Aura Island Park, the cafe is open:

  • Monday to Friday from 6 am to 2.45 pm
  • Weekends from 7 am to 2.45 pm

Take the kids for a babycino or an ice cream treat and grab yourself a delicious organic coffee or juice. Definitely highly recommend the coffee!
