Please note: The Brisbane City Council has scrapped its support for the controversial Mt Coot-tha zipline project. The below is now outdated information.

Mt Coot-tha Zipline  – An Exciting New Project

The Brisbane City Council is in the process of creating a world-class attraction right in the heart of our beautiful city!

Describing the Mt-Cootha area as the ‘ultimate green canvas for eco-tourism’, this exciting initiative will see a zipline encompass the precinct.

The precinct includes:

As with many government projects, the development process is dependant on a lot of factors. It’s difficult at this time to pinpoint an exact date for project completion.

Currently, construction is slated to begin in mid 2018 with a projected completion date of late 2019. The council is seeking feedback from the community and interested parties. You can find details on where and how to give your feedback at this link.

What would the Mt Coot-tha zipline be like?

Ziplines are a fabulous way to see a large area quickly from a birds’ eye angle. These attractions are developed and run with the very highest concern given to public safety. There is typically an age and weight restriction placed on them (for safety reasons) and, generally speaking, members of the public who have certain medical conditions are discouraged from use.

Why is the Mt Coot-tha zipline a good idea?

Anything that promotes tourism in the region, and introduces more people to the spectacular Mt Coot-tha area, is a good thing. This is a project that would provide both short-term and long-term employment to the region, open it up as a further revenue stream and promote environmentally friendly activity in Brisbane.
