Visit Brisbane’s leafy inner-north west to find the gorgeous Grinstead park with a playground and skate bowl that will appeal to the whole family.
Shady, safe and surrounded by nature
Grinstead Park is off Shand Street in Enoggera and is smack-bang in the middle of the beautiful Sparkes Hill Reservoirs. This beautiful area, buffeted by the Kedron Brook Bikeway, is a local treasure. Gorgeous flocks of wild birds, cheeky bats and stunning scenery make this one of the most lovely spots on the whole northside of Brisbane.
What is at Grinstead Park?
Plenty of off-street parking will lead you through to an almost entirely shaded playground area. This is a ‘fort’ style playground crafted from natural materials with bark chips underneath for safety.
There is a vast array of play equipment here – from the standard to the more unusual, like a flying fox and a lay-down swing. There is a fitness circuit slightly further afield if you’re into burning some calories while the kids burn theirs.
Most parts of Grinstead Park are quite easily accessed by wheelchairs and prams thanks to careful use of pathways and materials. Be warned, though, that some of the paths are on a bit of an angle.
Anything for older kids at Grinstead Park?
Stay on the side of Shand Street that you’re on and send the kids slightly north. A few minutes’ walk away is a skate bowl and a basketball half-court. These are in full view and kept relatively very clean.
What facilities are there at Grinstead Park for families?
This great park in Enoggera offers toilets, water fountains, electric BBQ’s, shelters and plenty of open grass spaces. We’ve been to quite a few birthday parties here and everything has always been very easy and stress-free. The shade offered by both the sails and the trees is a god-send. Our tip? Blankets! It can get a bit ant-y!
