Botanica: Contemporary Art Outside 2023 | Brisbane

12 May, 2023 - 21 May, 2023

Botanica Contemporary Art Outside

Botanica: Contemporary Art Outside is returning to the City Botanic Gardens between 12-21 May 2023, between 5‑10pm each night.

This year will see ten large-scale installations, ranging from sculpture and projections through to augmented reality and interactive creations that will once again transform the gardens into an outdoor gallery.

Attend an AfterDark Art walk or complete the children’s discovery trail and enjoy nightly performances, drinks at the outdoor bar and the selection of food trucks available each evening.

Do you have little art lovers at home? Join a free family-friendly guided walking trail of Botanica in Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens! Experience the magic of the large-scale artworks and unlock new ideas on the Night Explorer Children’s Tour for kids aged 5-12 years. Tours will run nightly at 5.15pm and bookings are essential. Book your spot today: https://bnecouncil.cc/3mPV70P

With a focus on sustainability, the 2023 event has seen artists respond to the theme ‘Tread Softly’ which considers a millennium of human influence by reflecting on our natural environments. The 2023 event is no exception to the year-on-year diversity and talent of selected artists, with this year seeing works from local artists such as Phoebe Paradise, Theatre of Thunder and Keemon Williams. This year also features the first international artist, Noa Haim.

Free and fun for all ages, Botanica is another way the Brisbane City Council is providing more to see and do.
