Earnshaw State College is an independent public school for Prep to Year 12. The college promotes a strong work ethic for achieving excellence in all areas of education. Curriculum and Extracurricular activities offered:
The curriculum at Earnshaw State College, Banyo is innovative and futures oriented. Foundation and extension classes are offered to students in Years 3, 6 and 9, to build their strength in English and Mathematics.
In Years 4 and 5, the college introduces gender-based classes to deliver subjects in a meaningful way for boys and girls. This program extends through to Year 10 in the core subjects.
Earnshaw students study Enterprise Education in years 7 and 8. Through planning and operating the college’s community markets, the students are given real life opportunities to learn. They continue their business studies through to Year 12, and benefit from the college’s membership of the Brisbane North Chamber of Commerce.
The college also has a close relationship with the local university, ACU, giving senior students an opportunity to complete their first university subjects in Years 11 and 12. Senior students can also undertake Certificate III courses through TAFE while completing their senior education.
The Individual Pursuits Program is another initiative that supports students to study a range of subjects and courses through other learning and training providers. In addition, the college offers assessment support sessions, homework clubs and a Maths on Toast program.
Facilities at Earnshaw State College:
Earnshaw State College has a library resource centre with an extensive collection of print and electronic media. It’s a bright and busy centre, with an icafe that is a hub for students, staff and parents. The college also boasts a Performing Arts Centre, a 25m pool, sports hall with stage and rebound ace floor, multi-purpose courts for tennis, basketball and netball, and a number of sporting fields.
