Brisbane Bayside State College teaches close to 1000 students. The College welcomed year 7’s for the first time in 2015. Brisbane Bayside State College is setting traditions to provide a school of excellence in the academic, cultural and sporting arenas. The school’s ‘Dare To Be Wise’ program provides extension classes, junior scholarships and a focus on student learning, leading students to aspire to be the best they can be, create the future they want, and achieve the realisation of their dream. Five priorities are identified under the program, which are:
· To maximise student achievement
· To focus on literacy and numeracy improvement
· To focus on leadership and staff professional development
· To provide transition programs from primary to secondary education and junior to senior schooling.
· To build on relationships and communication with parents and the wider community.

Brisbane Bayside State College offers a wide range of academic programs to its students as well as cultural and sporting opportunities.
The school’s curriculum is organised by three gateways within the junior school, differentiated by the style of teaching to match the requirement of individual student’s learning. The three gateways are:

· Arts and culture
· Innovation, technology and enterprise
Senior students can choose from a comprehensive selection of subjects.
Many of Brisbane Bayside State Collect students choose to complete an SAT (School-based traineeship /apprenticeship), attend a TAFE college one day each week to complete a certificate level course or enrol within University partnership programs.

Extra-curriculum activities offered at Brisbane Bayside State College include:

Academic competitions, student tutorial program, instrumental music program, school musicals and productions, student representative council, inter-sports competitions and a ski trip.

Brisbane Bayside State College organizes vocational education and training to give students industry experience in the workforce.
