2021 Open Days for Sunshine Coast Schools | Explore your options

2021 Open Days for Sunshine Coast Schools. When are they and do you have to register to attend? We’ve got all the details below.

Why attend a 2021 Open Day for Sunshine Coast Schools

Choosing the right school for your child might be one of the most difficult decisions you will have to make. Open Days provide a valuable opportunity to explore the options, chat with students and staff and sample the culture and community.  Chatting with a school’s admissions team can provide you with a unique opportunity to learn about what an education at each school will offer your child.

Making the most out of your Open Day experience

Whether you’re attending a full school open day, a Principal’s Tour or a private tour – you’ll have similar questions and want to know the same basic information.

Here are some key tips for making the most out of the experience.

  • Take notes. Use your phone to record (never take footage of other students or anyone who does not give permission) or jot down notes in a notebook. You’ve got no chance of remembering absolutely everything so write down important points as talking notes for later on.
  • Take photos (not of people). Ask permission beforehand but take photos of the important areas to your child. The dance studio if that’s a passion or the athletics track if that’s their thing.
  • Be polite and open. You’re making a first impression here as well so make sure you behave in a manner that’s appropriate for the setting.
  • See if you can see any learning in action. What are the students doing who aren’t directly involved with the tour? Do they look like they’re enjoying themselves or are they engaged in the work?
  • Ask about the tuckshop, the uniform shop, sickness policies and book lists. These are important bits of info and you want to know!
  • Enquire about the co-curricular program at the school.
