DanTDM Social Stories for Kids with Autism

DanTDM social stories can help prepare children for the excitement, nerves and anxieties they may feel around his upcoming Australian tour. Have a look at our resources – would they be useful in your house?

Dan, Dan, he’s our man!

In a world full of problematic influences, it’s refreshing for parents to find out that their child’s hero is a genuinely good person. We’re HUGE fans of DanTDM here at Families Magazine (as you can probably tell!) and a big part of that reason is the care and consideration he shows his fans. In particular, supporting those who identify on the spectrum.

Makes your heart melt a little, huh?

Just how BIG is DanTDM?

He’s not just big in your house, trust us!

The Diamond Minecraft YouTube channel has had over 9.8 BILLION views and Dan boasts 14.9 million subscribers. DanTDM is in the top 15 MOST SUBSCRIBED YouTube channels in the world.

Parents love DanTDM because he is kind, respectful and can interest and challenge children WITHOUT reverting to crass humour. Pretty rare in the YouTube world!

When kids meet DanTDM…

Dan’s shows involve a component where his biggest fans can get up close and personal for a meet and greet.

For anyone, meeting a hero can be a BIG DEAL. For kids on the spectrum, it could be downright overwhelming.

Even if your kids don’t get the opportunity to take part in meet and greet, being in the show environment (noise, crowds, lights and all that comes with it) could be the recipe for a meltdown.

DanTDM Social Stories for Kids with Autism

To help mums, dads and carers of children on the spectrum, we’ve created four DanTDM social stories that might assist you with preparing your child, you can download them using the links below.

  1. I’m going to meet Dan TDM – a story for those who have VIP passes and tickets to the show.
  2. I’m going to see Dan TDM on Tour – a story for those who are going to the show.
  3. When I’m feeling disappointed – a story for those who missed out on the Dan TDM VIP tickets, but are going to the show.
  4. When I’m feeling disappointed – a story for those who missed out on the tour tickets.

These stories should cover the gamut of emotions your child might be processing to do with DanTDM visiting Australia. These stories help open a dialogue for processing feelings to do with disappointment, nerves, crowds, seating and toileting issues.

If your child is not on the spectrum these are still well worth a look! They might help quell some anxieties or open up a conversation with your child where you can discuss how different people have different needs and requirements. A little tolerance and understanding go a LONG way.

DanTDM Social Stories – liked them?

If you appreciated these social stories we’d love to hear about what other resources you’d like us to create! Part of our mission statement at Families Magazine is to operate in the spirit of inclusivity and equity. We’d love to make even a small difference in the life of your family.

  1. Dan really is the greatest, even I love watching him with my little man. We missed out on VIP tickets due to Ticketmasters glitch, but my boy is just happy to have his idol in the same Country. Can’t wait to see him, hopefully my boy can meet him next year if he returns 🙂
