Lumina Night Walk | Mt Coot-tha

31 July

Lumina Night Walk

We sure do love our night walks in Brisbane! Every year Botanica and The Enchanted Garden are sold out and now we’re getting a new unique outdoor light show. The Lumina Night Walk is likely to open in the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens sometime in mid-late 2024.

According to Brisbane Cit Council, the new attraction has been designed with the environment in mind using specialised lighting technology. The show will take you on a journey through the botanic gardens after dark, using storytelling to connect families to nature. Similar experiences have featured in cities across the world, including Canada, Japan, Singapore and France.

Council believes the Lumina Night Walk will be an exciting new opportunity for Brisbane, creating more to see and do in the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens after dark.

We don’t have an official opening date to share with you but the rumour mill is touting 12 months from now, so perhaps winter 2024. Watch this space!

Lumina Night Walk details

  • The Lumina Night Walk will activate the botanic gardens after dark, operating a maximum 150 nights over the course of the year on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-11pm. Additional shows may be added during school holiday periods.
  • Entry to the Lumina Night Walk will be ticketed, with 4-6 sessions per night. Each session runs for approximately 50-60 minutes, commencing every 10 minutes.
  • The Lumina Night Walk  will be centrally located along parts of the existing 1km Gardens Explorer Trail in the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, operating in less than 1percent of the site. Visitors will be guided along the trail passing through 8 light show stations, each with an approximate 100-metre radius zone from one station to the next.
