Brisbane Ukrainian Festival 2024
24 August @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
FreeBrisbane is invited to a free day out of culture, music, food, flower-crown making and dancing at Brissie’s annual Ukrainian Festival on Saturday 24th August, while supporting a great cause and raising funds to support those in need.
This year’s event is set to be its biggest yet, with the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc., giving Queenslanders a day of cultural immersion at the Ukrainian Club Brisbane.
The festival promises to be a great day out for families across the Southeast, offering a rich cultural experience and fun activities for all ages, featuring:
- Cultural Performances: Enjoy traditional Ukrainian music and folk dance performances by local ensembles, bringing Ukraine’s rich history to life through movement.
- Market Stalls: Shop for unique Ukrainian goods, including gorgeous handmade jewellery, Vinok Flower-Crowns, intricate Pysanky Easter eggs and more. Each piece is a testament to Ukraine’s quality craftsmanship—don’t miss out on these unique treasures.
- Authentic Cuisine: Savour the flavours of Ukraine with a variety of traditional dishes. From Varenyky (potato and cheese filled dumplings) to Holubtsi (hearty stuffed cabbage rolls) and Pork Shashliks (a Ukrainian take on an Aussie BBQ favourite, the chicken kebab – you’ve never had anything like this at your Winter gatherings.
- Kids Activities: Keep the kids entertained with face painting, flower crown making, and a giant inflatable obstacle course.
