Brisbane Ukrainian Festival 2025
23 August @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
Free
Brisbane is invited to a free day out of culture, music, food, flower-crown making and dancing at Brissie’s annual Ukrainian Festival on Saturday 23rd August, while supporting a great cause and raising funds to support those in need.
This year’s event is set to be its biggest yet, with the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc., giving Queenslanders a day of cultural immersion at the Ukrainian Club Brisbane.
The festival promises to be a great day out for families across the Southeast, offering a rich cultural experience and fun activities for all ages, featuring:
- Authentic Cuisine: You’ll be treated to a mouth-watering menu of traditional dishes, proudly prepared by the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Inc. From ‘Holubtsi’ – tender cabbage leaves rolled in a filling of seasoned rice and meat, baked in a light tomato sauce until perfectly tender), to ‘Bograch’ – a hearty Hungarian Ukrainian goulash-style stew with chunks of beef, vegetables and paprika – full of flavour and perfect for cooler weather. Traditional salads are also on offer like ‘Olivier Salad’ – a creamy potato salad with peas, eggs, pickles and ham.
- Cultural Performances: Enjoy traditional Ukrainian music and folk-dance performances by local ensembles, bringing Ukraine’s rich history to life through movement.
- Market Stalls: Shop unique Ukrainian goods, including handmade jewellery, intricate Pysanky Easter eggs and more. Each piece is a testament to Ukraine’s quality craftsmanship.
- Kids Activities: Fun-filled activities for the little ones in your life, including face painting, and amusement activities.
- Admission: Free (Donations appreciated). All help goes towards support The Ukrainian Club Queensland’s work including aiding displaced Ukrainians settling in or relocating to Queensland.
- Details: Saturday 23 August from 11:00AM – 5:00PM at The Ukrainian Club Brisbane, 47 Galsworthy Street, Holland Park West, Brisbane.
