Victoria Point State School is a warm friendly school that achieves outstanding results. The curriculum focuses on literacy, numeracy and science, and offers a range of enriching experiences and learning opportunities not only in academic areas, but also music, sport and citizenship.

Curriculum and Extracurricular activities offered:

Sport:

All students are encouraged to develop fitness by participating in Cross Country events. For years 1-4 this involves a Fun Run in the school grounds, while Years 5-6 run through the local neighbourhood under teacher supervision. Students are also selected for the school team to compete in the District Cross Country.

Track and field events are held for all years. A mini-Olympics format is used for Prep to Year 3 students, while Years 4-6 compete as a member of their sports house in a formal Track and Field Carnival. Students can be selected to represent the school in District competitions.

Swimming lessons are held in Terms 1 and 4 at the nearby YMCA.

Music:

Students in Year 2 are tested for musical ability for the Strings program, which begins in Year 3.

Students in Years 5 and 6 are offered tuition in brass, percussion and woodwind.

Facilities at Victoria Point State School:

Victoria Point State School has 25 modern classrooms, all fitted with overhead projects. There’s an air-conditioned computer lab with 30 PC’s, and two mini-labs, as well as a fully equipped science lab. The library is air-conditioned, and features high-quality literature and up-to-date resources. There’s also a new hall fitted with the latest audio-visual equipment and removable seating.

Students can play in covered play areas, or take advantage of the school’s cricket pitches and large multi-purpose court that has two full-size tennis courts and two basketball courts.

The school has a Snack Shack and a Uniform shop.
