Victoria Park Putt Putt & Bistro is My Family’s Happy Place

Travel two kilometres from Brisbane CBD to find a picturesque oasis of healthy, active and positive family activity. Nestled into the hills of Herston near the Royal Women’s Hospital you’ll find this beautiful, Century old golf complex with all the trimmings.

Victoria Park Golf Complex has been on an evolutionary journey in recent years to invigorate itself as one of Brisbane’s key venues for entertainment, functions and family experiences. We recently went to check out Victoria Park to see what was on offer for families – and we were totally impressed!

How do we get to Victoria Park?

Opposite the RNA showgrounds on Bowen Bridge Road and just past the Inner City Bypass you’ll see an underpass to Gilchrist Avenue. Taking this street and curving around the old circular hospital parking building, take a left onto Herston Rd. You’ll soon find the entrance to Victoria Park. Follow the road past the initial Function Centre until you curve around to the left. Here you’ll find plenty of parking for a quick entrance to the Golf Shop.

The Golf Shop leads you through to both the Driving Range (for practice getting those bigger swings in) and the Putt Putt Range (where big swings are definitely not encouraged!).

We tried out both!

What is the Putt Putt course like at Victoria Park?

The Victoria Park Putt Putt course is a challenging but fun, 18 hole course with great views of Brisbane’s city skyline. You will find at Victoria Park an elegantly crafted course that encourages you to take your time and test your skill.

One of the holes has a swinging log that you can opt to use if you’d like to try and time your shot but all of the others make use of the gently sloping ground, rock and water features. There are plenty of places to sit in the shade as you wind your way around the course and cast your eye over the spectacular views of the city.

The Putt Putt course has a kiosk wherein you can purchase water and frozen slushies and it’s licensed, as well, if you’re after a more adult beverage!

Spooky Putt Putt: 13 Sep – 3 Nov

Get ready to scream with delight, because Victoria Park has got a frightfully good time waiting for you at their spooky putt putt course, just in time for Halloween.

Tee off amidst the creepy clowns of Carn-evil, then venture into the otherworldly fun of Alien Invasion. As you navigate the VP Graveyard, stay vigilant – the friendly zombies might just reach out for a ghastly handshake!

As you swing through ghoulishly crafted holes, you’ll encounter more tricks and treats than you can shake a broomstick at! Watch out for the scary squash, creepy crawlers, wicked witches, and other boo-tiful surprises along the way.

Book tickets here.

How much do the putt putt activities at Victoria Park cost?

  • Adults (over 18 years) – $23pp
  • Concession – $20pp
  • Parent/Guardian (playing with child aged 17 years and under) – $19pp
  • Kids 4-17 years – $17pp
  • Under 4’s are free

The course seems to take on average about 45 minutes to an hour to complete. Just enough time to work up an appetite!

Is there anything for younger kids at Victoria Park?

Victoria Park

There is a very quaint, lovingly built playground nestled against the putt putt course. Wood chips on the ground make for safe landings. A winding walkway unfurls along the length of the area and there’s even a repurposed old tractor the kids can play in!

There is plenty of seating and shade for parents in this area as well but no food or drink are allowed in here. Save your bellies for the Bistro!

*Please note this Playground is strictly for Victoria Park customers utilising the venues Bistro or Putt Putt services and Victoria Park is strictly no BYO.

What else is there for kids at Victoria Park?

Lots! After our kids tried the driving range, the putt putt and the playground, we headed over to the ping pong tables, giant games and bouncy castle.

Victoria Park Bistro

The alfresco Bistro offers seasonal dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The friendly staff offer table service and can make accommodations for your family – there are many highchairs and a kid’s menu. We reviewed the Victoria Park Bistro on our Get Out with Kids website.

Is Victoria Park family-friendly?

The Putt Putt course would be too difficult to negotiate with a pram or a wheelchair due to having to step over garden barriers. The Bistro and playground, however, can be accessed via ramps and sloping drives. The many shaded and seating options make for a welcomed break for those with accessibility issues.

There is a parents room attached to the Bistro that has been combined with the disabled toilets. Facilities are clean, modern and well-attended. Parking is plentiful but we would recommend you bring your windscreen shade as there’s no undercover parking – a bit toasty in the heat of the day.

You would be hard-pressed to find anything comparable in any other Australian capital cities. This is a venue that has gone out of its way to open itself up to families. This is a child-friendly venue that you can enjoy without feeling like you’re out of place. We had a wonderful time and are already planning our next visit. Fore!
