Open Days for Toowoomba Schools

Choosing the right school for your child might be one of the most difficult decisions you will have to make. Open Days provide a valuable opportunity to explore the options, chat with students and staff and sample the culture and community.  Chatting with a school’s admissions team can provide you with a unique opportunity to learn about what an education at each school will offer your child.

Many of the schools listed below offer parents and students the chance to tour the grounds and facilities at an open day event or privately. For some schools, this is slightly different in 2021 due to COVID-19 however there are schools still going ahead with open days while others are offering private tours or virtual tours only. Please check back regularly for guidance on the arrangements for each school as we update this article regularly.

How to make the most out of open days for Toowoomba schools

You’re going to have a lot of questions – after all, this may well be the place that your child spends some of their most formative years. We have links to a few helpful articles on how to help you navigate these changes at the bottom of this article.

Here are some tips:

  • Prepare yourself. Read up about the school on their website. Ask fellow parents if they’ve had any experiences with the school, good or bad. Check in with your child’s current teachers to see what they know.
  • Take notes. Bring a note pad or make recordings using your phone (check for permission first and NEVER record another student).
  • Prepare questions beforehand so you don’t kick yourself in the car on the way home because you forgot to ask them.
  • Bring your child with you wherever possible. They’ll want to know what the place is like and they’ve probably got some perspectives on the situation that you may not have thought of.
  • Mind your manners! A little kindness and friendliness goes a long way and can help make a great first impression.
