Oh, what fun it is to ride… public transport into South Bank this Easter There is just SO much for families to do at any time of year – particularly Easter, when the weather is (slightly) cooler but the sun still shines. It’s possible to do this VERY cheaply (particularly if you bring your own food and make use of the plentiful seating areas) so make sure you take advantage of what’s on offer! The Children’s Art Centre at GOMA truly is an evocative, exciting place where children (and those who are young at heart) can thoughtfully engage with art works in order to immerse themselves into a different way of thinking. The intention behind the Children’s Art Centre is to open a door from Brisbane to the world through which children may run, dance and play their way into a world of creativitity and imagination.
This time around, GOMA (and the rest of the South Bank Cultural Centre) will play host to APT9 – the 9th Asia Pacific Triennial exhibition. It has to be seen to be believed so don’t miss out! You can read more here.
Bonus idea: When you are finished at GOMA, head over to the Museum to wander through the free exhibits and check out the dinosaurs and fossils.
There are an incredible number of blockbuster and independent cinemas across Brisbane, Logan, Redlands, Ipswich and the Moreton Bay Region. On a hot day, enjoy the air conditioning and head in for some hot buttery popcorn and the latest flicks! We’ve got our overview of the best movies for kids right here!
From 1st December to 28th April, Ipswich Art Gallery is presenting ‘Playing with Light’ – a hands-on, interactive exhibition for all ages. Can you sneak past lasers? Survive in a kaleidoscope? Draw with light? Make a telescope? So much to see and do for creative little minds – this is a MUST when it comes to school holiday ideas.
Bonus idea: if you fancy a little bit of nature, we highly recommend the Ipswich Zoo (aka Ipswich Nature Centre) – it’s a gold coin donation to get it and it will surprise you with the range of animals they have in their care!
One of our favourite spots in all of Queensland! The parklands are divine at any time of year but Easter is when they REALLY shine with gorgeous weather and BEYOND divine greenery. Tour the incredible garden designs, play soccer on the fields, gaze dreamily at the water fountains and go bananas in the playground. It’s kiddie heaven and it’s the perfect inner-city spot to spread out a picnic blanket and watch the world go by.
