Santa is coming to Redbank Plaza from November 17, bringing snow, a parade of over 150 friends, and the biggest Santa set the Ipswich region has ever seen.
Christmas festivities at Redbank Plaza will begin with the centre’s biggest parade to date. Starting at 10am on November 17, the characters and local performers, including local dance schools, a bagpipe band, Gingerbread men, the Elf on a Shelf, Rudolph and of course Santa and Mrs Claus will tour the entire centre.
The half hour parade will end at the whimsical, Dr Seuss-inspired Santa’s Snowland, where the family can join in with kids workshops and free Santa photos.
“So much of the magic of Christmas lies in the lead-up and anticipation, so we’re kicking off the countdown early, with all the fun and festivities families will need to get into the spirit,” said Kylie Keioskie, Redbank Plaza Marketing Manager.
“We’ve combined the new with the nostalgic, favourite traditions with exciting surprises – there’s something for everyone and there won’t be a Grinch in sight.”
The Santa’s Snowland set was designed and built by hand in Noosa, features over 180 square metres of cubby houses, letter writing stations, selfie spots, a dedicated workshop and five metre tall Christmas tree to play beneath.
With planning beginning in February this year, it took the set designers and carpenters 250 hours and 365 litres of paint to complete.
The set will be open daily from 17th November to Christmas Eve, with glittering snow falling from level three every day.
During the first week of school holidays (17th – 22nd December) kids can get hands-on with free play sessions in faux snow that looks and feels like the real thing, but won’t melt. Perfect Queensland snow!
“Every Australian kid has wished for a white Christmas at least once, so we’re thrilled to be bringing that gift to Ipswich,” Mrs Keioskie said.
“Nothing beats the joy they receive from diving into ‘snow’ for the first time, and for parents it’s a brilliant break from the pre-Christmas rush – with no wet clothes afterward!”
Snowplay, Santa photos and kids workshops at Santa’s Snowland are FREE.
