The NAIDOC Week Showcase is an afternoon of FREE music, dance, and cultural activities to celebrate NAIDOC Week at the Redlands Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) Piazza.
Join RPAC for a free community celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Headlining this year’s event will be renowned singer/songwriter, guitarist and didgeridoo player, Joe Geia.
In a career spanning over three decades, Joe has released three albums and been an influential figure in the development of contemporary Indigenous music. He writes music of bravery and beauty, telling of Aboriginal life in Australia, of the quest for justice and belonging, of history, family, and love. He will bring these songs to the outdoor stage at RPAC as part of the NAIDOC Week Showcase celebration.
You can also look forward to a range of cultural demonstrations and activities, including a traditional smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country, Indigenous dance workshops and face painting for young children, a cultural talk and artefacts display which will be fascinating for all ages, and a great bush tucker food demonstration with the opportunity to taste some of the creations at the end.
This will be a fabulous afternoon of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
