In the lead-up to Christmas, a visit into the heart of Ipswich Central isn’t complete without stopping by the City’s Christmas Tree in d’Arcy Doyle Place.

Experience the spirit of Christmas through a blend of traditions, special guests, stories and activities. Check out Santa’s Shed, take a photo in his old rusty ute and explore the Kids’ Corner. Santa on Tour


Santa is coming to a suburb near you! This year Santa and his helpers are taking Christmas to the suburbs to help spread the Christmas cheer. A socially distanced Santa, performers and characters will be popping up around Ipswich. The big blue double decker bus will be cruising Christmas lights locations and making surprise stops along the way. Families Tip: This is not a passenger service bus. Tickets cannot be purchased to ride the bus. More details here.

Saturday 5 December

Ride a historic steam train with Santa | Swanbank Station

The annual Swanbank Santa Steam Trains are back and will run on 5, 6, 19 and 20 December. Step back in time while enjoying a one-hour twilight trip from Swanbank Station on a 100-year-old steam locomotive. Trips depart at 3.00 pm, 5.00 pm and 7.00 pm. Bookings essential.

Santa’s Arrival at Ripley Town Centre | Ripley


Join Santa for a morning of FREE Christmas fun and treats for the kids! The jolly fella will make a very ‘sweet’ and surprising arrival at 10am with a special treat for the kids. Families can also snap a photo with Santa near his throne. Get the event details here.

Christmas Wonderland

From 7pm nightly

Everyone’s favourite Christmas Wonderland is back with spectacular lighting displays in a new COVID Safe Event format. Visitors can expect to see stunning illuminated trees, glittering lights and much more. Due to the new COVID Safe Event format tickets are essential for contact tracing.  $5 per person, $15 family of 4 or $20 family of 5. Nerima Gardens.

Saturday 12 December

The Colours of Christmas | Tivoli

From 3pm

Celebrate the cultural diversity of Ipswich with the Colours of Christmas festival. The celebration will feature multicultural performances including a Scottish Piper and belly dancers, Santa Photos in Santa’s Cave, live carol performances by local musicians, markets, live bands and a free gift for each car. Don’t miss the fireworks and screening of Miracle on 34th Street.  Program proudly curated by Ipswich Musical Theatre Company. Tickets are essential. Book here now. Tivoli Drive-In.
