Below the Tideline

***  PLEASE NOTE THE THE QUEENSLAND GALLERY OF MODERN ART IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE  ***

Below the Tide Line’ has been developed in collaboration with Erub Arts, Marion Gaemers and Lynnette Griffiths. In their work the artists create sculptures made out of ghost net as a way to raise awareness about ocean pollution. ‘Ghost net’ is a term that refers to fishing nets that have been abandoned or lost, causing great harm to marine life. ‘Below the Tide Line’ features a spectacular artwork display as well as a drawing activity and an interactive screen-based animation exploring ocean conservation issues.

A series of hands-on workshops on select dates will invite participants to create a piece of coral using ghost net material. The workshop outcomes will be incorporated into a collaborative coral structure on display in gallery 1.4.
