Centenary State High School believes quality learning is pivotal in preparing students for the world beyond schooling, reflected in the school’s vision “Quality Learning, Quality Futures”.

Students at Centenary State High School are given the opportunity to take part in a range of academic, cultural, extra-curricular and civic pursuits in a safe yet disciplined environment.

The school opened in 1999, and currently holds a strong reputation for its high standard of presentation and behavior, academic performance and supportive environment.

Centenary State High School offers a curriculum that covers a range of sporting opportunities, a student leadership program, and accelerated programs in Maths, Science, Music and Mandarin. Students with an interest in performing arts will benefit from The Queensland Performing Arts School of Excellence (QPASE) and instrumental music program.

The school’s 1:1 laptop program benefits all students, as does the school’s rich calendar of educational trips and excursions both interstate and overseas.
Centenary State High School holds strong links to universities to encourage further education, in particular the University of Queensland, being very close in proximity to the school.

There are leadership opportunities (House Support and Student Mentoring program) in both junior and senior school.

Centenary State High School’s range of programs and activities such as extensive arts subjects, instrumental music program, Asian learning centre (Mandarin language study) and year 8 scholarship program.

The school’s Education Adjustment Unit caters for visually impaired students and those with disabilities.

Extra-curricular programs cover arts, sports and academics. The school is known for its vibrant performing department with a Music Plus and Performance Plus Programs. The Music Plus program caters for year 7 and 8 students with advance musical ability; instrumental musicians and vocalists are given the opportunity to further their abilities through the program.

The Performance Plus program is for students in years 7 to 10, with in interest in the performing arts. Talented performance students are given an opportunity to specialise in a full year of drama, dance, singing or theatre technology. A public performance is presented.

Centenary State High School also offers range of sporting opportunities and an eXcel program which concentrates on maths and science over a full year excellence program for those students that have demonstrated capabilities in these areas.

Beginning in 2015, students in years 7 to 9 can participate in the Mandarin Excellence Program, aimed at those that have advanced abilities in the Chinese Mandarin language.

Centenary State High School is positioned on 12.5 hectares with modern buildings and state-of-the-art performing arts centre. There are specialist facilities for all areas, a well-equipped sports and recreation centre and outdoor volleyball, tennis and basketball courts.
