Bribie Island State High School offers the only secondary education facility to the Island community of 16,000, which first opened in doors in 1989. 300 students registered for the first school intake in January 1989, and since then, the school has grown to a population of over 1000 students and 100 employees. Bribie Island State High School has formed strong relationships with the only two primary schools on the Island; Bribie Island State School and Banksia Beach State School, which include ongoing transition programs from primary to secondary school. Students of Bribie Island State High School become members of four learning communities, with an aim to build long lasting relationships with teachers and fellow peers. The innovative school also incorporates an international focus to its curriculum, by organising study tours to Cambodia, Rome and Japan, and also hosts international students from Asia, Europe and America.
