Here’s all the info you, and your child, need to know.

Queensland University of Technology

QUT’s Bachelor of Creative Industries is offered to students with an ATAR of 70. The course can be completed onsite at the Kelvin Grove campus or online. At 3 years full-time/6 years part-time, the degree can be started in either the first semester or the second semester, depending on your preferences (second-semester entry may be a good option if you miss out on a place in the January intake). It is assumed students have studied English, or Literature, or English and Literature Extension, or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4, C).

You’ll have the flexibility to explore your creative talents across 2 or 3 study areas, which will suit individual skills, interests, and career aspirations. You’ll receive practical, hands-on knowledge in industries such as multimedia, entertainment, marketing, publishing, or teaching.

University of Sunshine Coast

At the University of the Sunshine Coast, an ATAR of 50.00 is needed for entry to their Bachelor of Creative Industries program. The course is offered on campus for 3 years full-time or part-time equivalent, and you can start in the first or second semester. You can complete the course at the Sunshine Coast or Moreton Bay campuses in addition to online.

At USC, you will work with real clients through internships and projects to gain practical experience and professional contacts. You will graduate with a professional portfolio and good working knowledge of how your industry of choice operates. You can choose from a wide variety of majors, including creative advertising, creative writing, graphic design, 3D design, marketing, and serious game design. 2023 fees are $13,426.

Didn’t get a high enough ATAR for a Creative Industries degree?

Don’t worry if you didn’t receive an ATAR high enough to gain entry to your degree of choice – there are plenty of bridging courses available for you to work your way to where you want to be.  TAFE Queensland also offers several options for bridging courses depending on what you want to major in.

Diploma of Graphic Design will offer you experience in the exciting worlds of graphic design, digital arts, and visual communications. A Certificate III in Applied Fashion Design and Technology will increase your knowledge of the fashion world while developing skills that will help you to manage a fashion business or work at a management level. You’ll also develop skills in clothing design, garment production, and marketing.

Finally, a Certificate III in Screen and Media will allow you to kick start your career in the media and prepare you for an assistant role behind the camera, or in community radio. All this before you even get to start the degree you want.
