You could show 80’s and 90s classics, home movies, big screen blockbusters, re-runs of Sex and The City – the choice is yours! Get Uber Eats to do the catering or fire up the BBQ (and leave the cooking to someone else!), then sit back and relax by the braziers in style. At Backyard Cinema Hire you can even hire fairy floss, popcorn, slushy and hotdog machines for an authentic cinema experience, plus a range of seating and beanbag options. Go totally wild at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

I bet you didn’t know you could host your 40th birthday party at the zoo! Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary offers a cocktail party or dining experience with a difference. Dine inside or under the stars and personalise your experience with wildlife encounters, professional Aboriginal dancers, a choice of catering options and even a professional photographer to capture your night. A party at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary will truly be a night to remember. This option is ideal for larger groups.

Hire a community hall

If you have a budget to stick to and lots of people to invite, hiring one of your local council halls can be the perfect DIY party solution. You can usually pick the keys up in advance to decorate the venue, and most halls will have tables and chairs, toilets, kitchen facilities, room to dance and plenty of parking for your own private use. We’ve tried and tested this with pre-bought platters and a hired DJ, but you can always rope in friends and family to help with the catering and set-up, keep the Blue Tooth boombox going, and clean up afterwards.

A hired hall is a perfect family-friendly venue so no-one misses out. See your local council’s website for hall hire details.
